Choosing a TPO roof for new commercial building project

TPO roofing is gaining popularity across Spokane, Washington, as more business owners realize the many benefits.

When I began planning a new commercial build, I consulted with a local roofing contractor.

He explained the many options on the current market, including EPDM, BUR, metal and asphalt shingles. He strongly recommended TPO (Thermoplastic polyolefin) roofing because of the lower initial investment. It combines a TPO polymer base, a polyester-reinforced scrim and a TPO compound top ply into a membrane that is wonderfully inexpensive and environmentally friendly. The material is fire-resistant, puncture-resistance and even withstands chemicals. It incorporates strong seams that require very little maintenance, keeping associated costs to a minimum. I liked that a TPO roof can be installed very quickly. It is lightweight and comes in wide sheets that minimize downtime and mess. The seams are welded with hot air, making them a great defense against leaks. They are also easily repaired. The flexible material adjusts to different styles of roofs and accommodates movement and setting. The material is energy efficient, heat-reflective and resistant to ultraviolet, helping to save money on cooling costs. With the long hot and sticky summers in Spokane, I was interested in a roof that would help to maintain a cooler workspace. I like that the material doesn’t contain any chlorine and is 100% recyclable. An old TPO roof can be recycled into a new TPO roof. I discovered that it is available in a number of different colors. I ended up choosing a gray TPO roof, and although I’ve only been open for business for two years, I am totally satisfied with it.
