Waiting room sweat shop

My husband became ill recently and after a few days decided that he really should go to the doctor.

He normally refuses to go so when he asks for me to take him I didn’t hesitate.

I knew he had been running a fever for a few days and wasn’t able to keep anything down so I figured he had some sort of a flu bug. We called ahead to make an appointment but as usual, had to sit in the waiting room for almost 45 minutes before he could see the doctor. As we sat waiting my husband started to feel worse and worse, but I think that also had to do with the fact that the waiting room was sweltering hot. I thought this was unusual because the added heat in the room would only make the spreading of germs worse and I couldn’t imagine why they would have the temperature set so high. When I asked the receptionist if the temperature could be turned down she said that the doctor wanted it kept where it was to accommodate his older patients who are always freezing. I shared with her my concerns over the spread of germs and she said that I was welcome to use the antibacterial hand wash on the wall if I felt uncomfortable. We were very glad when my husband was finally called back to the room and seen by the doctor. We left with his prescription in hand and I was very glad to get home. I told my husband then in there that I was going to look for a new doctor’s office because obviously they didn’t care about the well-being of people that were just stopping in for a Well Visit.
